You are not a machine.

For many of us, we’re treated in our workplaces as if we’re machines. We’re expected to do certain tasks, with efficiency and productivity, and if we do not, we’re tossed aside.

Because we are consistently treated in this way, without full awareness, we begin to believe we are machines, and without any need from our workplaces anymore, we begin to treat ourselves like machines!

In order to keep up with what’s demanded from us, we push our own human nature to unnatural and even dangerous extremes. The result is everything from general irritation and exhaustion all the way to heart attacks, when the part of you that acts most like a machine – your physical body – conks out.

But it doesn’t stop once you leave work. You take that mindset home with you, too. Even if you go do something for yourself in your leisure time, like take a yoga asana class, you treat yourself there as if you’re a machine. You push and force your body for a certain result and when it doesn’t do what you want, you get fed up and wish you could get rid of it.

Never lose sight of the fact that you are not a machine. You are not a body. You are not a mind. You are.
