Take it easy peasy.

It’s good to have intention in your asana practice, but don’t struggle too much. You’ll lose the beauty and essence of your practice: the ability to stay relaxed while in action, the body under complete control of the mind.

Ironically, easing off of a pose slightly will actually help you coax your muscles to go further. Forcing the muscles causes them to fight back, and they will contract even stronger, preventing you from getting a good stretch. Forcing also creates tension in the mind and overexhausts your nervous system.

Enjoy the benefits of staying relaxed in your asana practice:

  • a healthier body
  • ability to go further into the poses and perform more advanced asanas
  • more peace of mind
  • and if you’re really paying attention, the joy of feeling the divine energy flow through you.
